Experience
Experience
Aerospace Engineer
6/2022 - PresentNASA Ames Research Center: Sworn civil servant, working for the Systems Analysis Office (Code AA). Supported the Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstrator project by publishing and presenting a paper on the analysis and optimization of 2035 aircraft. Analyzed the impact novel aircraft configurations will have on fuel burn, emissions, and noise. Contributed as a lead developer on a soon-to-be-released aircraft design and optimization software.Aerospace Engineer
Pathways Intern
6/2020 - 6/2022NASA Ames Research Center: Sworn civil servant in the Pathways Program, working for the Systems Analysis Office (Code AA). Supported the Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstrator development by creating tools to automate iterative processes for system optimization and sensitivity analysis. Learned Python and Fortran to create GUIs for analysis tools. Presented results of tool development and analysis findings at branch and project meetings. Developed tools for engine parameter optimization and the incremental impact of advanced technology characterization.Pathways Intern
Summer Intern
6/2019 - 9/2019Moffett Field Historical Society: Created assembly drawings for the missing portion of a destroyed WWII blimp control car. Created a BOM for the frame of the control car, separated by sub-assembly. Designed assembly tooling to reduce material costs and difficulty of labor. Created a standardized attachment method for the frame joints for manufacturability; the original design used hundreds of unique connecting plates. Interfaced with steel supplier to ensure progress was being made and to quickly address any concerns they had.Summer Intern
Student Research Assistant
6/2018 - PresentCal Poly Autonomous Flight Lab: Supported flight operations of unmanned aerial vehicles through various roles. Assisted in designing, building, and maintaining a fabrication area to support the vehicles. Designed and fabricated an integration table to hold a small UAS for storage and maintenance. Conducted a flight readiness review to get approval to conduct flight operations. Wrote procedures and instructions for the operation of various lab equipment.Student Research Assistant
Mechanical Engineer Independent Contractor
9/2017 - 1/2018DRS Daylight Solutions: Worked remotely from school as an independent contractor to redesign a multi-laser spectrometer for measuring SOx emissions from combustion chambers to improve thermal stability and minimize mechanical misalignment due to mechanical oscillation and thermal expansion. Continued to support the design and manufacturing efforts in a limited capacity once the contract expired.Mechanical Engineer Independent Contractor
Mechanical Engineering Intern
6/2017 - 9/2017DRS Daylight Solutions: Responsibilities: Mechanical Design, Fabrication Drawings, Requisition, Inventory Management, Prototype Fabrication, Initial Assembly Projects: Completed a design-feasibility test for an active-steering tunable laser system Designed, machined, and assembled a multi-laser spectrometer for measuring SOx emissions Completed initial design for an aerial laser-spectrometer to be carried by a small unmanned aerial system Led several team meetings to discuss optomechanical design requirements and progress.Mechanical Engineering Intern
Mechanical Engineering Intern
6/2016 - 9/2016DRS Daylight Solutions: Responsibilities: Mechanical Design, Fabrication Drawings, Requisition, Inventory Management, Prototype Fabrication, Initial Assembly Projects: Mid-Infrared Laser Microscope, Opto-mechanical Switch Assembly, Multi-use Laser Sensor, Optical-cavity Alignment Station, and Tuneable Laser Platform.Mechanical Engineering Intern
